One of the best trees in my orchard was shipped to me not only pre-pruned but also stripped. I was disappointed by its appearance, knowing the price! It actually looked like I was planting a stick, and for quite a while it was merely a stick. Then the day came when there was an explosion on the inside, it was now a stick loaded with spurs! Tree growers know the value of spurs, we want as many as possible. Today because of its shape and beauty, it is one of my favorites!

The patriarch Jacob also had a favorite, his name was Joseph. "Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the wall:"(Gen.49:22) Joseph like my apple tree, was not only pruned but "stript". He is a perfect example of a stick growing into a fruitful bough. The Hebrew meaning of the name Joseph; is "God will increase"! "And it came to pass when Joseph was come unto his brethren, that they stript Joseph out of his coat, his coat of many colors that was on him;"(Gen. 37:23). It's obvious to me that "half brothers of religion" will strip full brothers out of true relationships! Here's the revelation; this first stripping of the coat of many colors signifies favor, sonship and birthright! To know the value and power of fruitfulness, we must understand stripping and pruning! The elect of God have experienced a coat dipped in our own blood just like Joseph and especially like Jesus!

"And Potiphar's wife caught him (Joseph) by his garment, saying , Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled,"(Gen39:12). This second stripping in the house of Potiphar, was designed to cloud the mind of Joseph into forgetting his "royal identity" experiencing himself as a slave in prison! One of the hardest things to overcome is the "role of a scapegoat", to be blamed for something you never done. It is necessary to implant the nature of Jesus ( number one scapegoat) into overcomers! As we go through this experience, we really do allow the stick to become a fruitful bough! Joseph maintained his integrity, no integrity is now common place, in business, in education and in religion. Here's the norm; watch for "hackers", watch for "scamers" try not to get "cheated" when you need something!

The time came when Joseph was called out of the dungeon; "...and he shaved himself, and changed his raiment..." (Gen.41:14). Joseph the dreamer who kept his honor above all, kept favor with his God. Here's the revelation; Joseph had gained wisdom and grew into maturity. Here shaving and changing raiment goes beyond the natural into the spiritual. In the midst of prison hardships, Joseph kept his soundness of mind! In going before Pharoah, he will look presentable and maintain integrity. At 30 years of age Joseph begins to reign! Pharoah re-names Joseph; he is called Zaphnath-paaneah, being interpreted Savior of the Age (Gen. 41:45).

Apostle Paul tells of knowing a man who could have left the body, although he wasn't sure, and was caught up to paradise where he heard words not lawful to utter!  This rapturous experience took him to the third heaven and how we need to hunger for such an experience.! In Strong's Concordance the Greek word for heaven is "ouranious" and signifies elevation and height. These things are still available to those who understand that our God is rich in mercy and As Paul says has Great Great Love!

Here's Paul's teaching in Ephesians; He has "loved us", "quickened us", "raised us" and "sit us" in the heavenlies! It seems to me it is not unlawful for God's chosen to hear things from the third heaven, but it is unlawful for uncircumcised ears to hear such things. God's martyr Stephen reveals what happens: their heart is cut to the core, they gnash their teeth and they stop up their ears! Job's revelation of the eagle applies to the "elect"; the eyes of the eagle behold afar off (Job 39:27-30). We have the "single eye" of the Spirit which has given Sons of God the ability to peer into the "power of the age to come"!  Help us see Afar Off !

If you've seen pictures of the outside of the "upper room" in the days of Jesus you will no doubt focus on the stairs that had to be climbed to get up there. As the final Passover arrives before the Cross, Jesus leads his disciples up the steps into an upper room. Here's what's going on in the corrupt streets of Jerusalem: "And the Jews passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem, and found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting: And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changer's money and overthrew the tables(St.Jn.2:13-15).

Here's the revelation: "O my dove, thou art in the clefts of the rock, in the secret places of the stairs, let me see thy countenance, let me hear thy voice, and thy countenance is beautiful"(Song.2:14). You see the stairs to the upper room are symbolic; as I climb higher my visibility grows. Our goal is to see like Jesus, the end and the beginning at the same time; COME UP HITHER ! Each step represents separation from a religious celebration that Hebrews said is decaying and passing away! Each step upward represents a more intimate relationship as my eyes and ears are opened; "In those days saith the Lord I will put my laws in their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people"

"Ye also as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ"(IPet.2:5).  What a metaphor by the Apostle! Stones with the life of God within! This goes way beyond biological life with all it's infirmities and limitations. This is "God Life" actually resurrection life that will stand up in the face of weakness and death! This is the sum total of the writer of Hebrews: "....See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern showed to thee in the mount"(Heb.8:5).  Peter gives to us the unveiling of this pattern! It is now a "spiritual house" filled by a "spiritual priesthood" to offer "spiritual sacrifices".  Even though this is a revelation of "milk" it remains a mystery to most "church structures".

While many claim to be God's spiritual house, most are just one more failed attempt. The true "spiritual house" must be anchored on the foundation of Apostles, Prophets and of course Jesus. To say it another way, all of our customs, traditions and doctrines must be based on something an Apostle or Prophet or Jesus Himself taught through scripture! That is the only way we can ever be "apostolic" using the term loosely! This is why we have "epistles" of instruction" in order to establish us on True Foundation!  Spirit and Truth are the framework of a Holy Temple! Then we are built together for a habitation of God through the Spirit (Eph.2:22). When you leave out the anointing of the Holy Ghost, it becomes an empty school house without a teacher! When you ignore the "anointing" you have a building full of "peoples problems"  and a building full of difficulties but no Comforter, no Mediator , and no Advocate with the Father! Solomon said except the Lord build the house, the labor is in vain (Psalms 127:1).

As lively stones we are empowered to be part of a "holy priesthood"! I shutter to think of all the "unholy counterfeits" who attempt this sacred duty. As "holy priests" we are a go between, we must have a priestly heart with compassion for all kinds of people, and Jesus said: "the poor are with you always". Who wants the "poor" on their mailing list? We must feel what they feel, and their needs can only be impacted to any degree except by the "anointing". "and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing"! (Isa. 10). This requires more than just a letter kept on file for all occasions. Likewise we must have a pure priestly heart, to commune with God in prayer that is effective! You see priesthood ministers both to People and also to God! The Scripture says we are in fact created for His pleasure! I promise you, if our relationship with Jesus is real, we'll have no problem ministering to His people.

Peter's metaphor of perfect worship is completed by offering "spiritual sacrifices"! This must come from the "inner man", who has been regenerated. That means changed from "natural" into "spiritual". One who is totally surrendered and understands submission to the Spirit! As the song says: "when my will becomes enthroned in His Love"! "By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name"(Heb.13:15). It is called "fruit" because fruit takes time to grow and mature! I like Ripe Fruit, I have an idea our God likes Ripe Praise!

Here is a comparison worth looking into: "Then sat Solomon upon the throne of David his father..."( I Kings 2:12). Then we see this in (IChron.29:23) ; "Then Solomon sat on the throne of the Lord as king instead of David his father...".  The sacred  "throne of God" entrusted to the lineage of David, so it can interchangeably be called by either name! This becomes the subject of Peter's first sermon: "that of the fruit of the loins of David, God would raise up Christ to sit on the throne of David"! Here's the revelation: when we receive the real Holy Ghost we receive the legacy of Abraham, David and Jesus Christ!  Look at these "red letters" "...These things saith he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth , and no man shutteth; and shutteth and no man openeth;" The true Holy Ghost is the "key of David"  It empowers us to become OVERCOMERS, and look what comes next:"To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne"(Rev.3:21). Peter taught that Jesus' resurrection and ascension into Heaven was the time that Jesus assumed David's throne, and likewise the Throne of God! If you can accept it; the Holy Ghost gives us a portion of resurrection life on the inside, and the "authority of the Throne" by our faith!

Many times in Matthew's gospel Jesus is referred to as the "son of David" we can consider this as we read the Psalms, knowing David's words are powerful. "For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favor is life:..."(Psms 30:5) Extended translations clarify this; "his favor lasts a lifetime"! Through our connection to God's promises by the Holy Ghost we have the favor of our Father, how thankful is my heart in knowing personal times of God's unmerited favor (Grace)!  Here's another powerful comparison; the angel Gabriel announces to the virgin Mary "thou art highly favored! Highly favored is #5487 in Strong's Concordance. I was blessed when I saw this; #5487 is used only one more time in the NT. It is used by Apostle Paul in (Eph. 1:5-6) "Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved". Accepted in the beloved, and "highly favored" are practically the same in the Greek! The Apostle blesses those "in-Christ" with the same blessing the angel Gabriel pronounced on Mary!  WOW!!

"In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise,"(Eph.1:13). The sealing of the Holy Ghost signifies God's ownership, it also preserves me from all harm and finally it makes me privy to the secrets of the heart of God! Thank you Lord that we can know things the "religious world" has no idea! The Holy Spirit of promise goes back to the beginning when "the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the deep". To the called, chosen and faithful the promises of Spirit can be seen throughout the OT; in a rock, in a rainbow, in a cloud, in a stream, in a fire, in a wind, in a breath, in the rain and on it goes when deep calls unto deep! Here's the icing on the cake; "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you,(ICor.6:19) We're not the "outer court" nor are we "the holy place" we are the HOLY OF HOLIES we are God's Secret Place! Through "supplication" we can go inside ourselves ( this is the depths of prayer) and be intimate with Jesus. This gives us boldness when it's real: "And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God has said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people"(IICor.6:16)

Some years ago I was asked to teach some young Christians on the subject; Understanding the Anointing of the Holy Ghost.  That's a challenge even for seasoned ministry. During preparation I wrestled with myself feeling something important was missing but I couldn't quite get it. Finally the Lord begin to help me by taking me back to a particular night I was struggling to get the understanding of a passage of scripture, I read the passage and studied the passage till 2 "a.m." As the Lord saw and felt my determination He gave me understanding! He also gave me a valuable life-lesson, getting the things of the Lord require diligence and desire! Here's the Revelation,  the primary ingredient to experiencing God's Anointing is having Passionate Desire!

That is how I always start any teaching dealing with Anointing.  Proverbs chapter two tells us to seek God's wisdom, understanding and knowledge like you were after silver or searching for buried treasure! When it comes to the things of God we need to "be obsessed"! Just as Apostle Paul told the Corinthians, the Household of Stephanas has addicted themselves to the ministering of the saints. History tells us the news of the Gold Rush brought a massive 300,000 new prospectors into California. Thus the title of this Article: let us trade "gold fever" for God Fever!

"Beloved when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints"(Jude verse 3)  Built on the foundation of Apostles and Jesus the Cornerstone, we can have a deliverance (salvation) that is as real and powerful as the early church! This word "common" does not mean ordinary. It is meant to point out the Truth that the finished work of Jesus was so amazing, that His Glorious Gospel is available to "all people"  and "all nations"! Going further: "How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation..."(Heb.2:3) "God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost according to his own will"(Heb.2:4)  For me the Holy Ghost took me from "common salvation"  into a Great Salvation of Miracles!

Signs and wonders, divers miracles and Gifts of the Spirit, have made me a life-time follower of Jesus! Look at this example of Faith.   (Heb.6:1) Tells us to leave the Elementary Principle of "faith towards God" and go on to Perfection. Watch as our Faith grows to Perfection. "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness temperance. In this list, Faith is number seven, the number of perfection! "For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith..."(Rom.1:17)  We can Grow from elementary faith of man into the Divine Faith of Jesus that can't fail! Then, Paul tells us in Corinthians: God gives to some the Gift of Faith! When my confession of faith, grows into the fruit of faith, then couples with the faith of Jesus and the Name of Jesus, I have a Gift that really can create "supernatural phenomena"
