THE NATURE OF GOD

The New Testament gives 7 facets of what GOD IS. The number seven represents perfection, maturity, and completion. In examining all seven facets we begin to see an amazing picture of the nature and very essence of our Lord. The first facet,

GOD IS LOVE, an unconditional love and on such a higher plane it can only be understood by personal experience. These facets are all intertwined and help us understand (Mk.12:29)..."The first of all commandments is, Hear O Israel; the Lord our GOD IS ONE LORD. Thank God He can't be divided, He is one, this is another facet of God's nature and is tremendously important since God is God all by Himself. (Rom.5:5) "...Because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us." This lets us see the connection with the next facet; GOD IS SPIRIT (St.Jn.4:24) His love must be known by His spirit, only in this arena of spirit can we know God and more importantly know the nature of God. The formula that has never worked, and never will work, is to know a God of spirit by natural methods.

The next aspect of God lets us know above all things there is no deceit in Him.(IICor.1:18) says: GOD IS TRUE, impossible for Him to lie. No wonder the word of God records; around God's throne the angels cry HOLY, HOLY, HOLY. Likewise for our worship to touch the heart of God it must emanate from an undivided heart, spring forth from love, and reach into the realm of spirit and truth. The wise men that followed the star to Jesus had one thing in mind and that was to worship the child they had been led to. They bring to us a great revelation of worship; they opened their treasures and gave Gold, Frankincense, and Myrrh. We know the value of gold, true worship is expensive and those who worship in spirit and truth have paid a price to learn this. Frankincense was also very valuable, and is a symbol of going beyond an outward show and entering into sincerity and something pure. Last of all Myrrh was highly symbolic with bitterness and pain, and draws us into our God by a broken and contrite spirit

The gospel of John tells us that Jesus was the light that lighteth every man that cometh into the world (St.Jn.1:8). In examining these next two facets; GOD IS LIGHT AND GOD IS LIFE we see again the oneness of God's nature. Although they are different facets they can hardly be separated. The light of God is enlightenment and understanding and out of that light flows the very life and heartbeat of our God. His name upon our forehead is his nature, His character and His authority. The mind of Christ (which the remnant is pressing for) will bring to us such light and life that God's nature will be our nature.

(Heb.12:29) "For our GOD IS A CONSUMING FIRE." Much could be, and has been said about the fire of God. Some time ago the Lord begin to deal with me concerning what this consuming fire meant to me. When we consider the words of John the Baptist, there is one coming who shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and Fire. If we're totally engulfed in the consuming fire we become passionate. Show me someone who's passionate for Jesus, and I'll show you someone who's been in the fire. Next, the purpose of the fire is to purify and cleanse the hearts of those who have found the same passion that Jesus has. Finally, by staying in the fire long enough we experience the third purpose of the fire and that is to change us.

I like the way (Ezekiel 44:23) says it; teach God's people the difference between the Holy and the Profane.

In summary, we find GOD IS:  LOVE, ONE, SPIRIT, TRUTH, LIGHT, and LIFE AND A CONSUMING FIRE. In Rev. Chapter 5,

Verse 4, John wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon. Under the Old Covenant, there was no "worthy man", something was always missing, and for one reason or another no man was deemed "worthy". Then suddenly an elder says to John, weep no more for the Lion of Judah hath prevailed. You see there was a missing ingredient that the world knew nothing about, until Jesus, in person, brought the nature of God to a lost and weeping world. Through these seven attributes of God, Jesus brought the divine nature of God to planet earth, bringing in a new and living way replacing death and sorrow with life and joy. "WEEP NOT BEHOLD THE LION OF THE TRIBE OF JUDA, THE ROOT OF DAVID, HATH PREVAILED TO OPEN THE BOOK, AND TO LOOSE THE SEVEN SEALS THEREOF.''  The Old Covenant, called a ministration of death has now been replaced with a new covenant. Out of this new covenant comes an open book, a book no longer sealed, not a book of death but now a book that's alive forever more. The Book OF Life, The Word Of Life, A New And Living Way. Thank God!!

This is a crucial word to the "remnant seed" which God is dealing with. Thee nature and mind of the old man must be put to death. ( IICor.4:16) "...But though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day." A daily struggle to make sure the inward man is winning the battle (IITim.2:3-4) "Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier." The nature of God is now transitioning those of the remnant seed of grace into an army. A mighty army whose character is of the nature of God. "But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal." (Rom.11:4). God is raising an army, an army that loves His Spirit and loves His Truth. This remnant, like the seven thousand, are reserved for the Lord. Truth lovers, who will not be defeated and will not compromise those things God has given to us. "And no man taketh this honor unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron." (Heb.5:4) What a privilege to be a part of what God is now doing.
